Registration
All new student registrations must be made by our school Registrar, by appointment at the Main Office during office hours, through our website at www.berksmusicandarts.org or by calling 610-374-7167.
Registration Fees
An initial, non-refundable registration fee of $10 will be paid by all new students. A monthly studio/service fee of $10 per month is applied to base tuition according to length of lesson or classroom.
Class Instruction/Tuition Payments
All course tuition is due prior to the start ofinstruction. Class placements are guaranteed following receipt of tuition and completed registration form. Class sessions vary according to the instructor.
Tuition Fees
Tuition payments are accepted in the form of cash, check, Visa, Mastercard, or Discover. Tuition fees are due prior to start of instruction.
Miscellaneous Charges
The Community School charges 15% monthly on overdue accounts and $30 for returned checks. A $10 late fee will be charged to all monthly tuition paid after the 15th of each month.
Financial Aid
Financial Assistance is available on a limited basis for eligible students. Interested students may request an application from our business office or by calling 610-374-7167.
Special Education
The Community School of Music and the Arts is open to all special-needs children and adults. Our faculty is very sensitive to the specific conditions surrounding each special-needs student and works to tailor the curriculum to that student using a team approach including the parents or agencies responsible for the student’s health and well being. All of the creative arts have proven to be beneficial in helping these students express or de-stress themselves. The Community School is currently in the process of developing a curriculum designed specifically for students with physical, mental, and developmental disabilities, as well as Creative Arts Therapy Programs for persons suffering from a variety of disorders. Creative Arts Therapy promote wellness and healing in the individual.
Books and Materials
Required books and materials are selected according to the needs of each student. They are billed separately from tuition, unless otherwise stated in the course description.
Withdrawal
Notice of withdrawal from a class must be received in writing and is effective the date that the notice is received. There are no refunds after the course begins. Registration fees are not refundable.
Refunds
If a course is cancelled due to insufficient enrollment, the full tuition payment and registration fee will be refunded. A full refund, less the $30 registration fee, will be issued if the student withdraws at least one week prior to the first day of class. No refunds will be issued once the class begins. CSMA reserves the right to change courses, times, and tuition at its discretion. CSMA reserves the right to cancel a class if it does not meet minimum enrollment three days before the first class. Students will be notified, and given the opportunity to enroll in another class or receive a full refund, which will be issued within 30 days of cancellation.
Inclement Weather
The Community School will be closed when the Reading School District is closed, or operating on a delay. Please listen to local radio station WEEU Radio, 830am or WRFY Radio Y102 for closing information.
